Schreck PPC Carrier

Description

The manual called it a Schreck PPC Carrier. The holovids called it the closest thing to a 'Mech on treads. The Brigade called this one Headhunter. Sniper called it Hell.

The 80ton Schreck was designed by Aldis to circumvent the problems of its predecessor - the Demolisher.
With its three modified Hellstar PPCs with a larger accelerator and modified magnetic "lense" system were the pinnacle of Particle Beam Technology during its development.

The Schrecks main tactic is to go hull down and fight from fortified position and cover and to expose only the barrels.

Most notable pilot is Frederick "Sniper" Jones - the quotes are from the same-named short story.

About this version:
The heart of this Schreck is a 5m³ cube in the center, right below the barrels. There you can find a 11MW Fusions Reactor. The GoreTex grant enough power for the complex tracked drive train that grant 1600kW (2145hp). The computer assisted handling of the Schreck can be managed by only 2 crew members but usually you can find 4 crew members. Lack of decent electronic hardware can increase the number of necessary crew. However those 2-3 additional positions are not shielded against the danger of an electrocution when the PPC capacitors or accelerators get damaged. Usually those additional crew members are only used in the AC LowTech version of the Schreck.

The 11.5 MJ Hellstar PPC have a longer barrel than usual - the additional length of the accelerator allow the use of less particles that are fired with more speed when compared to the PPCs on Marauder or Awesome. A "Magnetic Lense" system allow to direct the beam this allows all three PPCs to converge on a single point evaporating a Mechs armor and cutting deep into its internals.

The main issue is waste heat. 15m² of the Schrecks armored hull have radiators behind armored shutters. When not in combat those can be openend to get rid of at least 3-5000kW waste heat - this is hardly enough for a recharge of the capacitors, sensors, life support system and engine. To keep the Schreck in fighting conditions even over the course of a length battle the rear of the Schrecks turret is filled to the rim with a high capacity storrage bank. That can theoretical allow 50 shots for the PPC - the internal cooling system has also several storrage tanks with coolant. Those heatsinks can take the waste heat of the PPC discharges for a while. But its necessary to get rid of that waste heat soon after or the Schreck can literally melt.
When fighting from fixed positions and fortifications there are 4 side-arms that have including 2 drills that can be used to dissipate heat directly into the ground.

The wide tracks allow a relative low ground pressure of 7.5 PSI - (less than an average human)

Although I thought I was almost finished with this model:
Schreck WIP
or
Schreck WIP2

I completely redesigned the turret - I didn't liked the old one. There are still some things to do, however.

If you want to work with the model - let me know I might provide it in some formats.

A very nice job - and a very nice lore i always love to have on technical stuff.
